DENPASAR, AUGUST 7, 2026 – To strengthen the capability and mental readiness of higher education faculty, the Department of Agroindustrial Technology (PS TIP), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University successfully organized a Lecturer Competency Workshop. The event carried a strategic theme, "Emotional Intelligence for Lecturers: Agile and Thriving in the Tri Dharma Ecosystem".
The event took place interactively and enthusiastically on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the FTP Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Agrocomplex Building, Unud Sudirman Campus, Denpasar. The workshop was attended by faculty members and academic administrators within PS TIP FTP Unud.
The activity commenced with registration and a luncheon to strengthen camaraderie among academic staff. In her presentation, Sang Ayu Ketut Tri Semaraputri, M.Psi., Psychologist emphasized that the role of modern lecturers extends beyond transferring knowledge (hard skills), requiring strong emotional intelligence. Lecturers are expected to be resilient, adaptive (agile), and capable of managing emotional regulation, empathetic communication, and occupational stress amidst the dynamic demands of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—comprising education, research, and community service.
The Coordinator of the Agroindustrial Technology Study Program (Koprodi TIP) FTP Unud, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Lani Triani, S.TP., M.Si., expressed her deep appreciation for the event. She emphasized that educators' mental well-being and emotional intelligence form the foundation of a healthy and productive academic ecosystem.
"Lecturers are at the forefront of developing superior human resources in the agro-industrial sector. However, the increasingly complex challenges of fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education require us to remain adaptive and emotionally resilient. Through this Emotional Intelligence training, we hope PS TIP lecturers become not only more academically professional, but also possess mental resilience, empathy, and agility in mentoring students and collaborating in the workplace," stated Dr. I Gusti Ayu Lani Triani.
She added that non-technical skill enhancement (soft skills) initiatives like this will continue to be conducted periodically to foster a harmonious, inclusive, and highly competitive work environment at PS TIP FTP Unud.
The participants' enthusiasm was evident during the discussion and Q&A session. Lecturers actively shared experiences and consulted on practical strategies to address psychological and communication challenges within the campus environment. The event officially concluded with a group photo session and a shared commitment to applying these insights into daily academic life. (TIP)
