Realizing Kintamani Coffee Sustainability, I Wayan Gede Sedana Yoga Earns Doctoral Degree at Udayana University

DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program (S3) in Agricultural Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, has once again produced a new doctoral graduate. I Wayan Gede Sedana Yoga, S.TP., M.Agb., officially earned his doctoral degree after successfully defending his dissertation in an Open Examination held at the Postgraduate Building, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar.

During the session, the promovendus presented an in-depth study titled "Sustainable Development Model for Kintamani Arabica Coffee Agroindustry." This research highlights the critical importance of integrating economic, social, and environmental aspects to strengthen the competitiveness of Kintamani coffee as Bali’s flagship commodity in the global market.

In his presentation, Dr. I Wayan Gede Sedana Yoga explained that the Kintamani coffee agroindustry requires a development model that does not only focus on increasing production but also on preserving the ecosystem and ensuring farmers' welfare.

"This model is designed to address the challenges of price fluctuations and climate change by prioritizing synergy between processing technology, strengthening farmer institutions, and preserving geographical indications," he stated before the board of examiners.

The examination was presided over by the Chair of the Session, accompanied by a team of promoters and examiners who are experts in their fields. The board of examiners expressed their appreciation for the promovendus’s conceptual contribution, which is deemed highly relevant to the current needs of the agricultural industry, particularly in supporting the agrotourism and export sectors in Bali.

The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for local governments and stakeholders in formulating regional development policies based on sustainable plantation commodities.
